The name 'Tie Kuan Yin' means 'Tea of the Iron Goddess of Mercy' who is said to have appeared in a dream to a local tea farmer, telling him to look in a cave behind her temple.  There he found a single tea shoot that he planted and cultivated.  The bush he grew is said to have been the parent bush from which cuttings have been grown and leaf plucked over the centuries to make this very fragrant tea.  It is today one of the most sought after oolongs around the world.  Available from Fujian Province & Taiwan China. Oxidation degree between Green Tea & Black tea, Tie Kuan Yin is typically close to a green tea, with only a little fermentation. Subsequently, it has a very flowery, delicate aroma without the green tea "grassiness" or astringency. Our tea farm, Mei Moutain, is located in Nan'an County, Quanzhou City, Fujian Province, which is neighbourhood city to Anxi which is traditional known as the production base of non organic Tie Kuan Yin. Compared with Anxi, Nan'an has the same suitable growing natural environment for Tie Kuan Yin but much less polluted by modern industrialization. Our tea is from Mei moutain with altitude from 700-1000m. Our tea fram is authorized by United Nation Food and Agriculture Organization as global unique Tie Kuan Yin demonstrative base.
